My Relationship With Fitness

Sometimes I hear some of you tell me I’m young, or wait until I get to your age. 😁

Maybe I haven’t given a good response, but I would tell you I’m paying attention. I can only imagine the details of the lives everyone has lived. I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me that it’s not always easy taking suggestions or directions from a 39 year old.

I want to say, I try to consider your situation to the best of my abilities.  Sometimes interactions don’t pan out perfectly, sometimes in my search to help you problem solve or progress, I miss the mark. This is why I like the idea of never quitting.  So I try again and again and again until we figure it out.

Anybody who wants to share their history, their relationship with fitness, their goals and aspirations… I’m all ears!  Stop me and talk to me, or send me a message.  The better I understand you, the more I can help.

If you are interested in my history, here are a few bullet points to my relationship with fitness:

1. I played sports from my childhood through middle school and high school.

2. I started lifting weights at 14, a 40 to 50 pound growth spurt coincided at the same time before turning 15. ( A HUGELY motivational coincidence.)

3. The only long period of time since 14 with no exercise habit was age 18… most of a year.

4. After high school I did a semester in junior college. I did not believe fitness was a realistic career, so I had no direction at the time. I stopped school and worked until I was 20. During this time I picked up exercise again.

5. After I turned 20, I went into the army for 4 years. This was an opportunity to get some school money, figure out what I wanted to do, and continue working on my fitness.  I was also required to learn and participate in army fitness.

6. After the army I went into school for a B.S in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology.  During my schooling, I did personal training and classes from time to time. I graduated in 2013 (27).

7. 2014, I moved up to the Detroit area looking to start what you’re a part of now.  This month I will have been here for ten years exactly.
